English Level Test

Welcome to the English Level Test by Aussie English with Amanda!
Please read the following instructions carefully before you begin.
Purpose of the Test
This test is designed to assess your current English proficiency according to the CEFR framework, ranging from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient).
It is intended as a guide to help you understand your current level and which areas you may need to review.
Test Structure
The test contains 30 multiple-choice questions.
Questions are grouped across six CEFR bands (A1 → C2).
Items and answer options may appear in a random order to give every attempt a fresh mix.
Topics include grammar, vocabulary, spelling (Australian English), prepositions, collocations, and punctuation.
Answering Questions
Read each question carefully before selecting your answer.
Only one answer can be selected per question.
All questions must be answered before submitting.
Timing
There is no time limit.
Take as much time as you need to think about each question.
Completing the Test
Once you have answered all 30 questions, click the Submit button.
Your results will appear instantly on screen.
Results
Your overall CEFR level is calculated as the highest band where you achieved at least 70% accuracy (and all lower bands also passed at 70%+).
A band-by-band breakdown will show your performance at each level.
You will receive per-band feedback (e.g., “You missed 2/6 at B2 — review relative clauses and phrasal verbs”).
You will also have the option to download a PDF copy of your results, including:

CEFR Levels and What They Mean
A1 (Beginner):
You can understand and use very basic words and phrases. You can introduce yourself and others, and ask and answer simple personal questions.
A2 (Elementary):
You can understand everyday sentences and expressions. You can communicate in simple, routine tasks and talk about your background and surroundings.
B1 (Intermediate):
You can understand the main points of clear, standard input on familiar matters. You can manage most travel situations, describe experiences, and express plans and opinions.
B2 (Upper-Intermediate):
You can understand the main ideas of complex texts, including technical discussions. You can speak fluently with native speakers and write clear, detailed text on many subjects.
C1 (Advanced):
You can understand demanding, longer texts and recognise implied meaning. You can express yourself fluently and flexibly in social, academic, and professional contexts.
C2 (Proficient):
You can easily understand virtually everything you hear or read. You can summarise information from different spoken and written sources and express yourself very fluently, precisely, and naturally.
